Using a powerful symbol in a stark and radical way can change hearts and minds. Going back and re-reading about The Mending, my first thought is that the museum fell flat getting the word out. <br />As to why so many more attended this unraveling - it's much easier to tear down than mend, especially when what is being torn down is such a controversial item. Not that I'm suggesting it be done, but now I wonder what would happen if they held a mending of this flag. Would it even be allowed, and would those who hold it so dear show up?JustGailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08948391538309176039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-588118538433483895.post-80398457615965710852017-10-19T01:55:52.795-04:002017-10-19T01:55:52.795-04:00Lots to think about on this one.Lots to think about on this one.Leighhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11563230869151812456noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-588118538433483895.post-63943742715342717722017-10-19T00:42:29.732-04:002017-10-19T00:42:29.732-04:00What a sobering concept, the unraveling of a symbo...What a sobering concept, the unraveling of a symbol of so.much.wrong. I like the fact that the artist was there involved in the unraveling, and I imagine she wished she had more time to converse with each 'unraveler' as well.
