One day I was making a collage and needed some tiny eyes to paste onto a head that had no features. I found them in an encyclopedia illustration, cut them out and used them in the collage below.
Afterwards, the eyeless head was sitting on my work table on top of some plain yellow paper. (I find it helps my creativity if I don't clean up too quickly; yesterday's leftovers may become today's feature image) Here's what I did with it:
Subsequently I re-used the zombie eyes several times, usually with the solid color gaze.
Inspired by your posts, I tried my hand at a little collage. I must ask though, what glue do you use to create yours? I need something better than the drying glue stick I used on mine, if I'm going to continue with this.
ReplyDeleteI have tried many varieties of glue stick and yes, this is a very important part of the process! You want a glue that will go on smooth, not dry too quickly (in the stick) and not ooze out from under the paper.
DeleteI don't like the sticks that start out purple and change to clear. My two favorite brands are Elmer's All Purpose white glue stock and Staples glue stick. All others, no thanks.
Thanks so much. I figured with your experience you probably had worked through the problem glues.
Deleteoh, you're just koo-koo!! Come sit by me!!! This is so quirky and fun and exciting. The braces!!

Do you know the work of Ellen Gallagher? She uses googly eyes ... for example http://www.hauserwirth.com/artists/7/ellen-gallagher/images-clips/29/
ReplyDeleteMargaret -- I think I have seen her work in person a long time ago -- thanks for the link -- I will enjoy looking at it again
