When we lived in Valdez, Alaska, we held a raffle for a man who needed a liver transplant. The winner got to choose between a quilt I made and a very fancy shotgun. A fellow quilter won first pick, so she selected the shotgun for her husband--she figured she could make the quilt. And believe it or not, a very happy man got the quilt.
That reminds me of a listing in the want ads I saw years ago: Will trade clavichord for guns.
