I am saddened by the horrible destruction of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan this morning. When I visited that beautiful country last summer it was far from the areas hardest hit in the quake, but I wonder whether some of the scenes we enjoyed may be gone forever. Here's a week of photos from Japan, with my fond memories combining with my sympathy for its time of disaster.


(PS -- I also had delightful travels in Christchurch, New Zealand, but unfortunately no photos. Memories and sympathy just the same.)
